Most churches in Hartlepool belong to Hartlepool Churches Together. Their Enabling Group plans and organises joint activities, such as united services of worship, programmes for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Lent, Easter, Advent and Christmas, also projects such as the Street Pastors, Food Banks, and drug awareness.
There are also smaller groups within the town and St George’s is a member of Hartlepool Town Centre Churches Together. Six of those churches (Stranton, St Joseph’s, Grange Road and Westbourne Methodist Churches and St Luke’s) are in a covenant relationship to work together. St George’s and Grange Road have a close relationship in that they have a joint service on the second Sunday of each month, alternating between the two buildings. A representative from each church attends the church council or meeting of the other.
The Town Centre Churches Together hold fortnightly prayer meetings at 8 am on Wednesday mornings, alternating between the College of Further Education and town centre churches.
They also oversee the Breakfast Club held weekly on Wednesday mornings in St Joseph’s. Sandra Twist is co-ordinator of the Breakfast Club.
Hartlepool Churches Together belong to North East Christian Churches Together and to Churches Together in England.
